I know that you, Peter, say that ethnicity estimates should be ignored, but I noticed recently that Ancestry have removed Normandy from my map and left only the tip of the Pas de Calais. Being truly British, i.e. with all four home nations in me, plus Scandinavian/Viking blood, I found it logical to have Normandy on my map; they were North men, too, before they came over with Duc Guillaume. So why has that region suddenly disappeared? Surely some Norman blood got into my make-up along the way?
And, while on the subject of DNA, who can find the argument which will convince my sister to take a test, please? First she didn't want her DNA "out there", now she "can't be bothered" - since I've told her how different our results could be.
She's helped me with family history, although she's not really interested in it, and come to different Archives with me in the past to help me find records. But if I make a discovery, like finding a Lord Mayor of Liverpool, albeit only for a year, among our direct ancestors, she doesn't seem very enthusiastic.
