I had forgotten about this List. I might start looking at my father's family again. It could be a bit out of date, though (2008), but worth a try.

It may not have been updated since 2008, but will be useful I'm sure. Don't forget the famous Cosford Database, which despite also not being updated is a great resource

It's here, on the Suffolk Resources page. Every county has, or will have a resources page - the purpose of this subforum (and the equivalent subforums for other counties) is to supplement the resources listed.

My anti-virus programme blocks this site as unsafe. It only has a http:// address.

Do you mean forums.lc (such as the page I'm typing this into)? It has an https: for me. Try putting the s in manually?

Over ride your antivirus software, I've just been to the site, I get a warning not to add any personal info.

You could try emailing them but the copyright claim is 18 years old....

The link is working for me, using Chrome on Windows 11, which suggests it's something specific to your device?

It's working for me, too, using Safari on MacOS Monterey.

I think there's a misunderstanding here. The link works, but any decent antivirus programme will warn against using the link because it has no security certificate. I just wanted to point this out. Please ignore my caution in wanting to use websites that are secure. Of course you can ignore such warnings, I prefer not to.

OK, that's because it is a very old site and hasn't been maintained. I guess chosing to access it depends on how useful the information might be to you?

Update:
Ray Long unfortunately died in 2008, and his websites are not being maintained. Although the link still works, there will be nobody monitoring them so please ensure caution when visiting any non https: link.
