No danger of that - the website can cope with many, many more than the current membership.

The biggest problem is that a sizeable proportion of existing members haven't completed their My Ancestors page, or have only entered a token number of relatives; as a result 80% of matches are made between just 20% of the members. This might sound like good news if you're one of those 20% - as most members of the forum are - but in reality it means that there are an awful lot of 'lost cousins' out there who you can't connect with.

It's not because they're inactive or inexperienced - the vast majority of members who write to me in response to a newsletter are amongst the 80% who've barely scratched the surface when it comes to entering relatives.

I used the Family Tree analyzer mentioned here and wow! . I had a lot of households listed but knew there gaps - my word adding through this program was soooo easy and lots of people added ! I have 9 new contacts listed.

Please make sure you check every household against the census using the arrows provided - remember, FTA takes the information from your family tree, and very often the name and or age will differ from the census. You may find that you need to correct as many as half of your entries.

Look out particularly for middle names that either don't appear in the census or are shown only as initials; also, though less common, differences in the spelling of surnames are critical because they could affect everyone in the household.
