A new service pack is out for Family Tree Maker which amongst other things has a patch for
  • Fixed problem where sources were missing after merging facts during Web Merge.
So this may fix the issue Tim reported.

Thanks Alexander. I had an Amazon voucher, and so I have now received and installed FTM2014 :)
