AI removing information from Ancestry tree?

I've just been alerted to a potential problem with an AI feature that Ancestry are beta testing.

This is an excerpt from a post on the Surrey mailing list passed to me by a LostCousins member:

"I received an email from my cousin today warning me that while trying to add the children of distant relatives into her Ancestry tree yesterday, she noticed that all of the full NSW dates and places of births, marriages and deaths she had already entered for the parents had disappeared and was replaced with only a year, a district name of the registration and a registration number was written into the description box. It's like the NSW government has given Ancestry AI Assistant permission to access it's birth, death and marriage indexes and as a result, AI replaced all of her full dates and places with the index information. "

Has anyone else noticed this happening? Certainly a good reason to keep your main tree on your own computer out of harm's way.

No, but that's better than what adding records from the Victorian BDM lists on Ancestry - they add no information whatsoever, and if they add anything, it's only a place. Ancestry no longer offers the year as an adding option.

That being said I went and had a look at some of the NSW records I have previously added, but haven't noticed any changes. However, many of them are no longer attached to sources since my "uber" tree had massive syncing issues and all the sources were deleted.

At least there is still the grouped "Australian" collection, which will provide more information that the "state only" collections do.
