Online version of Family Tree Analyzer for people with Macs & tablets

Many of you may know I wrote Famiy Tree Analyzer to help people find errors and omissions in their trees and through a LOT of help I received from Forum members the project grew and grew and a great many new features were added over the years.

I recently retired and so have been back working on the project after a good few years since my mother died when my interest in family history all but vanished. I recently released a brand new v10 of the program which you can get from the Mircosoft Store

It is a windows program and for a period I did start on a Mac version but the costs of maintaining it and particularly having to buy a new Mac just to contiunue to satisfy Apple Licencing conditions meant I dropped the mac version. Plus I was aware of a growing number of people who do their tree on a tablet who couldn't use the app. So...

I've created a web only version of FTAnalyzer. It's not fully featured yet but it does a large amount of what the desktop app does with a modern interface. If you want to try it you then you can here.

I hope I can rely on the advanced knowledge of forum users to assist in testing the app and reporting problems for me to address by using the report issue button on the site.

This is a phenomenal resource, offered for free! (I even wanted to make a donation after a single try, but it wouldn't accept my £2; the min. is £3, presumably due to admin. costs.) Even the preliminary report showed me several things I have to correct - it even picked up a couple of 31 June and a 31 September! - but then I looked at all the analysis it offers, and was blown away! (OK, it needs tweaking - for example, if I understood it correctly, it thinks I haven't entered anything into LostCousins - but that's a minor point.)
I repeat, I'm very impressed.

Thanks for the feedback. The reason it thinks you've not entered anything into Lost Cousins is it checks this two ways. First way is if you have entered a custom Lost Cousins fact in your tree to flag it has been done. The old desktop guide is here. which mostly is still accurate explains how. The second way which has yet to be implemented is the program will ask you to login to Lost Cousins and it will inspect your My Ancestors page and compare that with candidates.

Stage 3 of the process is it will add missing people to your My Ancestors page automatically using the census references you have entered. Again yet to be implemented but works in Desktop version.

PS. Thanks for the offer of a donation I'll check the settings on the payment platform. They basically defaulted to those options so yes it may be down to their cut, but I can probably tweak it.

Hi Alexander, I've just tried to login to LC on the FTAnalyzer desktop app but it won't accept my email/password which is working fine when I login on the LC website. Any help would be appreciated.

Almost always this is because your password is 15 or more characters long - Lost Cousins logins are based on an ancient technology and it actually ignores anything that you type after the 15th character. However when FTAnalyzer uses that it sends the whole thing and the login fails. If you enter just the first 15 characters of your Lost Cousins password it usually works. This is something that would be fixed in a revamp of the Lost Cousins website.
