My Heritage DNA

LostCousins Star
I've recently resubscribed to My Heritage at the basic rate which shows DNA matches. Interestingly it shows quite a lot of matches that are not on Ancestry and in particular Foreign matches in my case from Europe and Eastern Europe which is odd, as most of my ancestors originated in the UK and Eire. However, some of them could have migrated elsewhere especially the Irish and Scots as one of my Scottish ancestors emigrated to Argentina.

I wasn't aware that any subscription was requited to access DNA matches at MyHeritage? I have transferred multiple sets of results to MyHeritage and also tested with them directly (for the purposes of comparison), but I've never bought a subscription of any kind.

I have lots of matches at MyHeritage which I don't have at Ancestry, but they have rarely proved of any practical value. I find it difficult to make any sense of their matches - the site doesn't offer the same level of help you get at Ancestry, and although the clustering feature looks good, it hasn't helped me so far.

Since I have ancestors from Germany I might have expected to identify matches on those lines at MyHeritage, but in fact I've only found them at Ancestry so far.

I have a small tree on there with only my direct ancestors on it, to have a bigger tree they want a bigger sub! They told me that they go back further than Ancestry regarding DNA. Compared to you I've found lots of DNA matches on MH who don't appear on Ancestry even a 1st cousin, 1R I was completely unaware of but eventually found him on my tree as he is the son of a 1st cousin (who disappeared from the family).
I find MH's trees difficult to negotiate as they don't always show all the people in the person's tree. Also, how do they arrive to say a match is a 4th/5th cousin's son, etc, and how would you track him down bearing in mind that my tree is over 35000 now?
As to the European side maybe Geneanet is better for tracking them down have you tried that site?
