German War Graves

My mother is German and i have been tracing her ancestors for a while now. Thank goodness for the option to translate a language into English as i would have been lost without it. The research has been challenging as many of the records have been destroyed . Although it is probably a tetchy subject still, i have been trying to find the grave of my uncle who was missing in action during WW2. The link below has been very useful and i am now registered as next of kin should any remains be found. Just as with the missing and lost soldiers from Britain, the German's are now trying to trace those missing through a volunteer organisation funded by the German government. Unfortunately they say time is running out...and money...so the will be scaling their operation down in the next couple of years. I dont think we will ever find the body of my uncle although i do have the report of where he was last seen badly wounded.
Anyway i thought this may be useful for anyone who is researching the German War dead in WW2...

Do also remember that Google Translate can be used for sites or documents that haven't provided translation. You can enter the text and ask Google Translate to translate the text or you can enter a webpage and have the entire page translated.

eg: if you put that website address into the box for Google Translate it will translate it for you. It is of course not perfect but it is a whole lot better than staring at text that might as well be in double dutch.

NB. Google doesn't have an option to translate Double Dutch.
