Emigration to the USA

Very true. At my FH group on Tuesday we had 2 instances of this. One chap's grandfather emigrated to Canada, but it didn't work out and he returned next year. Another instance was quoted where the people who make up trees on Ancestry said that a son couldn't have been born in England to a family who'd emigrated. The real story was that the father came to Europe to fight in WW1, his wife came back to her family in England for the birth of their son. All then returned to Canada after the war. As you say, our relatives don't necessarily stay put! Why should we assume they did? We don't!
