Unfortunately, that will happen to each of us at some time.

Perhaps this should be a reminder for each of us to pass on guardianship of our research to someone who will not delete all of the painstakingly added census references. Hopefully they would be able to look after the entries even if they would not add to them. After all, it would not cost them anything, even effort, until a future match is made with new entries added by another member.

Of course, all that would be for naught unless Peter has made appropriate arrangements for the LC site to continue without him at the helm. Best wishes for a long and healthy life, to be followed by a willing heir.

Websites that close down when somebody passes away (such as Suffolk Surnames) usually do so because everything is in the name of an individual. There has historically been a lot of uncertainty over what happens to 'digital assets' when someone dies.

The LostCousins site is owned by a company, albeit a very small one, so even if I'm not around it can continue.

Yes, the rain has been a big help in the garden - actually thinking about mowing the lawn. Always a quiet time of year at LostCousins because so many members are on holiday, or have grandchildren visiting.
 
We have just had our first rain today, not much - just a little, but it all helps the garden.
Our runner beans have not grown well this year.

Wish that I could say the same for here. New South Wales has been declared 100% drought. Farmers are in a dreadful situation and there are massive support campaigns in place. (sorry, off-topic, I know).
